Description
On October 14, 2016, Chinese and Bangladesh government signed a MoU that included the construction of a new Inland Container Depot near Dhirasram Railway Station. China EXIM Bank pledged to provide 200 million USD export credit. As of 2018, the deal is still in negotiation stage. In 2018, The Daily Star reported that Japanese firms were taking notice of the project instead of Chinese firms. However, no foreign country has agreed to finance the project as of late 2018. As of 2023, it appears that Asian Development Bank will finance the project, currently set to begin construction in 2024.
