Project narrative
In August 2016, the People's Republic of China provided 120 full scholarships for Kenyan University students to study their respective disciplines in China. The scholarships cover a wide range of university levels, including PhD and Masters degree programs along with undergraduate studies at multiple institutions in China. These scholarships are a component of the 200 plus scholarships and 500 training opportunities for Kenyan students to study and receive specialized education in China in 2016. At the time these scholarships were provided, more than 300 Kenyan students were studying at Chinese Universities via scholarship opportunities funded by the Chinese Government. The scholarships have been provided, however, their total cost is unknown.

Chinese Government coded as participating organization because it appears these scholarships are government-funded based on source material; however, the specific government institutions financing the scholarships are unknown. The Year Uncertain box is checked because although these scholarships were provided in 2016, the source states that an agreement was renewed in 2011 between Kenya and China that focused on promoting educational exchanges and cooperation in the field of higher education on a mutually beneficial level. It is unknown if this agreement originally allocated the number of scholarships that are provided on annual basis.
