China University of Petroleum signs agreement to train students at Mount Kenya University

Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On May 1, 2016, China University of Petroleum Dean Dr. Fengchi Luan signed an agreement with Professor Simon Gicharu, the Chairman of Mount Kenya University, to provide training for students at Mount Kenya University to become oil and petroleum industry experts. The agreement states that both universities will participate in joint research and technology projects and student exchange programs. Faculty and research personnel exchange programs will be provided as well. Although the agreement has been signed, the progress of this project and its cost are unknown.

Staff comments

Although China was coded as the donor and Kenya as the recipient for this project, it appears that through the joint exchange program, students from both universities will be exchanged to study at the other partner university, i.e. Chinese students will study/train at Mount Kenya University and Kenyan students will study/train at China University of Petroleum. Faculty and other personnel appear to be exchanged between both institutions as well.
