Project narrative

From September 16 to 25, 2015, 22 senior Kenyan officials, including the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Industrialization and Enterprise Development, Wilson Songa, attended a week-long educational and industrialization training session in Beijing and Guangzhou, China. The event was part of the Foreign Aid Human Resources Training Program initiated by the China Ministry of Commerce in 2001. The session heavily focused on how China established specialized economic zones in the country and the governing structures and policies that led to the establishment, operation, and supervision of these zones. The Kenyan officials would then gather this information and apply what they learned in order to establish similar economic zones in Kenya. The session also served as a chance for both nations to discuss different investment opportunities in their respective nations. The project is now complete, however, its total cost is unknown. China plans to train 534 Kenyan officials from different areas in 2015.
