Project narrative

On 16 January 2016, the Chinese government officially handed over two sets of vehicle-mounted container inspection equipment (or “container scanners”) to Djibouti. This project was supported with grant funding from the Chinese Government, but the monetary value of the grant commitment is unknown. According to the Chinese Embassy to Djibouti, the high-tech container testing equipment was intended to help Djibouti Customs improve its inspection efficiency and safety precautions by facilitating the customs inspection and modernization process.
