Project narrative

On September 22, 2017, China's Ministry of Commerce signed an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) for a grant worth 8.3 billion CFCA with Cameroon's Ministry of Economy, Planning, and Regional Development to finance the feasibility studies for the construction of Cameroon's National Assembly building. The building will cover an area of 37,500 square meters and will be located in the capital of Yaoundé. A groundbreaking ceremony was held December 12, 2019. This agreement was one of 3 signed on September 22, 2017 (see linked umbrella Record ID#57077). The Chinese Government later agreed to donate RMB 400 million for the construction of the new National Assembly Building (see linked Record ID#72109).
