Full Description

Project narrative

On July 9, 2014, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Sun Weidong, presented a donation of 5 million Pakistani Rupees to a Pakistani official on behalf of the Chinese embassy for the resettlement of internal displaced persons in Pakistan. The check was accepted by Abdul Qadir Baloch, minister of Pakistan's Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) for the resettlement of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) from North Waziristan The surge in internally displaced population was caused by Operation Zarb-e-Azb, a military campaign launched by the Pakistani armed forces on June 15 against domestic local militant groups hiding in North Waziristan tribal regions. SAFRON officials reported that more than 833,000 people have been registered as IDPs as a result of the operation.
