Project narrative

Following a 2016 Sri Lankan landslide which destroyed a village in Aranayake, the Chinese Government committed to provide a grant worth 22.5 billion crore (225 million LKR or 1.5 million USD) for the Aranayake China-Sri Lanka Friendship Village Project. This project involved the construction of 60 two-story houses for those living in the Aranayake village who were displaced by the disaster. The total cost of the project was $1.95 million. Construction of the village was completed, and the houses were turned over to their new owners. Hunan Construction Engineering Group Sri Lanka Branch was the contractor responsible for the Aranayake China-Sri Lanka Friendship Village Project.
