Description
On November 15, 2010, China Development Bank provided $600 million USD for a loan syndicate, totaling to $2 billion, for the construction of phase 2 of the Anpara Thermal Power Plant and Himavat Thermal Power Plant. The loan syndicate was agreed to under an MoU between the Lanco Power Limited, China Development Bank, and the Uttar Pradesh government signed on November 26, 2014. The second phase of the Anpara Thermal Power Plant is said to be completed. The plant will provide 90% of its power to the state at rates fixed by the state electricity regulatory commission, with a capacity of 2*660MW. The Himavat Thermal Power Plant also has a capacity of 2*660MW. The Himavat project was suspected to be suspended but is reported to have commenced work in January 2016. The current status is unknown. The exact amount given to each project is unclear.
