Project narrative

On August 26, 2016, Faqeer primary school opened up to 121 students. On September 1, 2016, Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan visited Gwadar for the school's inauguration, along with Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong. On September 13, 2016, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Sun Weidong, visited the school. The Chinese Overseas Port Holding Company (COPHC) donated books to help set up the school's library along with 380 school uniforms. According to the Chinese embassy in Pakistan, this project was funded with a $399,000 Chinese Government grant. Construction began in November 2015 and completed in September 2016. The school was built by a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Ltd. (CCCC), CCCC-FHDI Engineering Co., Ltd.
