Description

On August 16, 2012, the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) of Pakistan approved a project to procure machinery for the rehabilitation of irrigation infrastructure in Sindh, Pakistan. Following the project approval, the regional government of Sindh signed a commercial contract with an unnamed Chinese company. At the request of the government of Sindh in 2015, the government of Pakistan sent project documents to China Eximbank as part of a loan application for Preferential Buyer's Credits (PBC) to finance this project. The government of Pakistan applied for a $15 million USD PBC; however, no additional disbursements had been made and no further reporting about the project appeared in the Pakistan Ministry of Economic Affairs Fiscal Year Books after 2016. According to the Pakistan Ministry of Finance Estimates of Foreign Assistance for 2015-2016, and of 2016-2017, no disbursement had been made by the end of 2017.
