Project narrative

In 2013, the Chinese Government agreed to provide RMB 58.4 million of grant financing for Phase 1 of the the Kurgan-Tyube to Kulob Road Rehabilitation Project (captured in Record ID#71741). Then, in 2016, the Chinese Government agreed to provide RMB 59.6 million of grant financing for Phase 2 of the the Kurgan-Tyube to Kulob Road Rehabilitation Project (captured in Record ID#53990). In 2018, the Chinese Government planned to provide US $11 million for Phase 3 of the project (captured in Record ID#71612). The first phase of the project involved the construction of 12 kilometers of roads in Kurgan-Tyube and Kulob and 2 automobile bridges in Kulob. The second phase of the project involved the rehabilitation of 15 streets and 4 bridges in Kurgan-Tyube and Kulob measuring 22 km in length. China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) was the contractor responsible for project implementation. The project was supervised and managed by China Railway First Survey and Design Institute Group Co.,Ltd. The first phase officially started on April 17, 2015. The inauguration ceremony and the signing ceremony of the technology handover certificate for project was held on January 19, 2016. The second phase of construction began on December 29, 2016. It was completed on December 15, 2017, after passing inspection. The Project Qualification Certificate was signed on December 27, 2007. The inaugural ceremony for the second phase was held on January 8, 2018.
