Description

Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah paid an official visit to China from 15-18 May 2016. In a joint statement released during the visit, it was stated that in 2016, the Chinese Government will provide RMB500 million of grants to the Afghan Government for the mutually agreed project of Afghanistan International Exhibition Center in Kabul. This disbursement may be part of the agreement signed in 2014, which stated that China will provide Afghanistan 500 Million RMB of grant assistance every year from 2014-2017 (#54451). On the same day, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Afghan Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah signed six bilateral cooperation documents. Documents signed on this date include: a trade agreement for saffron, a Memorandum of Understanding on the nature of the One Belt One Road Initiative, an exchange note on the construction of the auditorium at Kabul university (#53635), an exchange note on a grant of 50 million yuan for non-emergency humanitarian aid (#53640), and an exchange note on China creating a survey for the construction of affordable housing for civil service employees in Kabul (#53999).
