Project narrative

On May 20, 2013, China and India announced in the joint statement that they plan to complete Sino-India Culture Communication Encyclopedia in 2014. The encyclopedia is designed to increase news media communication and cooperation, as well as enhance citizens to know and develop friendships between both countries. India agreed to launch classics translation project. The Encyclopedia was released in both English and Chinese versions by the Vice Presidents of India and China on June 30, 2014, in Beijing. It features over 700 entries, covering contacts and exchanges between the two countries in the trade, economic, literary, cultural and philosophical spheres. The financial value of this project is unclear. Plans to complete Sino-India Culture Communication Encyclopedia were announced at the same time as the Sino-India classics translation project (#54024).
