Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In February 2015, it was reported that China would finance Afghanistan's motorway from Peshawar to Kabul. In December 2018, Chinese officials stated, "China supports enhanced coordination between Afghanistan and Pakistan on major energy and connectivity projects including the construction of Quetta-Kandahar railway and Kabul-Peshawar Motorway and Railway." According to a 2017 Diplomat article, this project was still prospective and no official agreements have been signed to create this motorway. In December 2018, verbal commitments occurred at the 2nd Afghanistan-China-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' Dialogue but financing commitments have yet to be outlined.
