Project narrative

On 24 September 2013, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Pakistan, particularly around Baluchistan province. On 25 September 2013, the Chinese government committed to donating disaster relief supplies worth 30 million RMB to the Government of Pakistan. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Financial Tracking Service captures this donation in flow ID #108988. This aid package included generators, medical supplies, emergency rescue equipment, water purification tools, communication devices, tents, and blankets. These items were shipped in three different batches from Beijing and Nanjing to Karachi Airport in Pakistan. The first two batches departed on 28 September and the last batch departed on 29 September. The Chinese government also donated $1.5 million USD to Pakistan for this earthquake (Record ID#53542).
