Project narrative

On October 19, 2006, Export-Import Bank of China pledged to loan $22.8 million USD for restructuring Tajik Telecom (also known as Tajiktelecom), Tajikistan’s national telecommunication operator. A new joint-stock company was to be established on the basis of this enterprise, and foreign legal and physical entities would have the right to purchase its shares. The total cost of the project was $27 million USD, according to a Tajik official.

Staff comments

Tajik Telecom is now known as OJSC "Tajiktelecom," which may indicate this project was completed. However, it is unclear if Chinese financing was ever disbursed.
