Project narrative

In 2014, China agreed to grant Antigua & Barbuda with 20 million RMB for enhancing Antigua & Barbuda's capacity in addressing the effects of climate change. The project included the installation of equipment such as solar street light, training of staff and technical support. In August 2014, China’s National Development and Reform Commission and Antigua and Barbuda signed a Memorandum of Understanding for 2000 solar street lights. The handover ceremony for the solar street lights was held on April, 8th, 2016. The solar street lights will help reduce the country’s dependence on fossil fuels and will be placed in various communities throughout the island.
