Description

On November 22, 2016, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between China and Chile for the establishment of a Chinese Cultural Center. This agreement was approved under Chilean decree no. 73 (Decreto N°73) on 4 August 2017. The articles in the agreement include: the center seeks to provide the Chilean public with quality cultural programs, and the center operates as an official nonprofit cultural entity. It is unclear whether or not this project has begun implementation as of 2019. It is unclear whether or not this 2016 pledged cultural center (referred to in Spanish as the Centro Cultural de China en Santiago) is related to the Chinese cultural center (referred to in Spanish as the Centro Cultural Chino or Centro de Cultura Chino) that was established in 2005 (see project ID #63101).
