Description

On December 19, 2016, a welcome ceremony was held in Barbados for a team of 8 Chinese specialist medical personal sent by the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission. The eight-person team was comprised of 3 surgeons, 2 physicians, 1 anesthetist, 1 nephrologist and a critical nurse, all positions previously understaffed at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH). Their time in Barbados follows a pact signed by Barbados and China in October 2016 to expand medical exchange and cooperation. Both Chinese Ambassador Wang Ke and Barbadian Health Minister John Boyce indicated great satisfaction with the cooperation. On July 14, 2017, they finished their stay at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in Bridgetown, in a ceremony in which a second team replaced them. This is the first team of three to visit Queen Elizabeth Hospital from 2016-2018. This team was the first of four batches and training provided by an October 2016 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). See projects ID #54835, #54834, #71321, and #54836 for projects on each of the medical batches. #72188 captures the training provided through the agreement.
