Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In November 2003, China financed and renovated the YASCO Sports Center Project in Antigua & Barbuda. The multipurpose complex consists of an Olympic-style track and a field, which is owned and operated by the Antigua and Barbuda Athletic Association (ABAA). As of 2017, the ABAA was looking for assistance in redoing the track and turned to China and the IAF, but it is unclear whether a deal was struck.

Staff comments

It is unknown how much involvement the Chinese government had or the cost of the project. Based on the Chinese in the description, the project should be a grant or a very low-interest loan. So we classify it as ODA.
