Project narrative

On October 2, 2018, the Ark Peace of People's Liberation Army Navy of China arrived at St. George, the capital of Grenada, for an 8-day visit. This is the second time the ship has visited Grenada and will provide free medical services to local Grenadian people for the "Harmonious Mission-2018" tour/project from October 4 to October 7. The ship also sent 11 medical teams to various local hospitals, sports centers, and prisons to provide medical services. The Peace Ark treated 7,275 people and performed medical examinations on an additional 2,764 people. They also carried out physical examinations for 49 people, admitted 17 people into hospital and performed 15 cases of surgery. The hospital ship left the St. George's Port on October 9. The Chinese medical experts also carried out the nursing technology demonstration exchange with 40 Grenadian nursing staff and demonstrated such skills as “bone marrow aspiration” and “neonatal touch”. The first time the ship visited Grenada and provided medical services was in 2015 (captured by Record ID#54956).
