Project narrative

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Financial Tracking Service, on 4 April 2005, the Chinese Government committed to donating $106,550 USD to the World Health Organization (WHO) for "enhancing capacity to respond to health threats at regional level and supporting health coordination" in Sri Lanka. This project falls under a broader initiative (UN project name is TSU-REG-05/H01- REGION) "to support national health authorities to protect the health of survivors and vulnerable people affected by the disaster, to provide early warning of emergency health threats and to enable the timely organisation of any response, to work with the Ministries of Health and with partners in the coordination of the health sector response".
