Project narrative

In November 2018, El Salvador's President Salvador Sánchez Cerén meet with President Xi Jinping in China. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador, the Chinese government will donate 3000 tones of rice to El Salvador, specifically to aid farmers/communities that were affected by Tropical Storm Michael and the summer drought that resulted. The first 1,000 tons of rice arrived at the port of Acajutla, El Salvador on November 7th 2018, stated Ou Jianhong, China's ambassador to El Salvador. According to Dialogo Chino. The second batch of donations was handed over in December, 2018. The donation is complete. During this same meeting between President Cerén and President Jinping, memoranda of understanding for an Education/Scholarship Plan (#55585) and several other multisector projects were signed (#55498).
