Project narrative

On 28 July 2011, at the opening ceremony of the Chinese-built National Swimming Pool (see Record ID#32642), the Chinese Government officially donated equipment worth 1.3 million RMB to the Seychellois organizing committee of the 8th Indian Ocean Island Games in preparation for hosting the event in Victoria. The donation included sportswear, large-screen TVs, water dispensers, stretchers, and other unspecified materials. At the same event, the Guangdong People's Association for Friendship donated $300,000 USD to the organizing committee (see Record ID#71415). Moreover, Hunan Provincial Sports Bureau dispatched coaches and trainers to help prepare Seychellois athletes for the Games (see Record ID#69035).
