Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

The Carib Territory Housing Program was launched by the Government of Dominica to construct safe, affordable housing for eight local communities. The homes are built in a traditional style and provide amenities, including electricity, water, and sanitation, to residents. While the original project was co-funded by Venezuela, according to the Government of Dominica's Growth and Social Protection Strategy (GSPS) 2012 - 2014, in 2012, China provided 41 additional housing units to the project at a cost of USD $1.4 million. Construction on the project was scheduled to begin at the end of 2011. The Department of Carib Affairs was involved in the implementation of the project.
