Project narrative

On November 26, 2014, the Chinese Government and the Government of Suriname signed an exchange of letters related to a grant for the Sophia's Lust Community Center Construction Project. The total grant commitment amount was RMB 7 million. On July 27, 2016, the implementation agreement for the project was signed. The community center was constructed by China Dalian International Economic and Technical Cooperation Group. Suriname's Ministry of Public Works, Transport, and Communications supervised the construction work of China Dalian International Economic and Technical Cooperation Group. Construction began on November 28, 2016 and the project was officially completed and handed over to the authorities on October 16, 2017. The center officially opened in July 2018. The community center includes a playground, fitness room, computer room, and a room for holding meetings.
