On 13 June 2003, the Minister of Foreign Trade and International Cooperation of the government of Guyana and the Chinese Ambassador signed an Exchange of Notes for the Bamboo Craft Project. The project is funded by two grants, one from 29 February 1996 and the other from 29 June 2001, covering the 1.7 million Yuan cost. According to the 2003 Moftic Digest, the Exchange of Notes facilitates a one year mission of three Chinese bamboo craft technicians to Guyana and the provision of material for this project.
