Description
In 2011, the Chinese government aided in the construction of several installations at the Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital in Peru (Proyecto de Ampliación del Hospital Loayza), including the Intensive Care Unit, Blood Bank, Sterilization, and Kitchen. The project was completed in 2013. Construction costs for the project are unknown, but project #56428 captures the costs associated with the Chinese government sending a team of technicians to aid this project. Other projects funded by the Chinese government related to the Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital include #56926, which captures the initial construction of the new facilities, and #56429, which captures the maintenance of the facilities constructed and installed in this project and in project #56926.
Additional details
Direct information about this project, such as a construction contract, and concrete groundbreaking and end-of-construction dates cannot be located. It is also very unclear how this project relates to project #56926. Some later documents make reference to installations related to the "Proyecto de Ampliación del Hospital Loayza" turned over to hospital authorities in 2013 (see Tratado Internacional Ejecutivo No. 169-2017), and the technical team from China did come to Peru during this construction period. However, construction for the "Projecto de Ampliación del Hospital Loayza" also occurred from 2009-2011, with significant evidence of contracts, the beginning of construction, and the end of construction (see project #56926). One potential explanation is that the construction of the building that would house the Intensive Care Unit, Blood Bank, Sterilization, and Kitchen took place from 2009-2011, while the installation of the units themselves took place from 2011-2013, though there is no direct evidence for this.
