Description

In 2011, the Chinese Government agreed to provide a grant to the Government of Eritrea for Phase 1 of China-Eritrea Solar Street Light Project. The monetary value of this grant commitment is unknown. This project involved the installation of 121 solar street lights along 3.5 km of road in the city of Asmara. China Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd was the contractor responsible for implementation. The installation and commissioning of the street lights began in April 2013 and Chinese and Eritrean government officials held a project completion ceremony on May 30, 2013. The Chinese Government also funded Phase 2 of this project (captured in Project ID#56307).

Additional details
