Description

On December 20, 2017, the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and the University of Carthage signed an agreement on the establishment of a Confucius Institute at the University of Carthage. Dalian University of Foreign Languages was the partner Chinese university for the Confucius Institute. This was the first Confucius Institute in Tunisia. The Confucius Institute was officially opened in a ceremony held at the Higher Institute of Languages of the University of Carthage on November 12, 2018. The Confucius Institute was then formally inaugurated on April 10, 2019.

Additional details

The French name of the Confucius Institute is Institut Confucius à l'Université de Carthage. AidData has chosen the start and end actual dates to reflect the beginning of operations of the Confucius Institute and then the inauguration of its facility, as Hanban's financing would cover both together.
