Description

According to the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, the Chinese Government agreed in principle to provide RMB 130 million to the Government of Morocco. for an Irrigation Dam Construction Project [see 摩洛哥与中国的经济关系(1999―――2003年) ]. In October 2002, the Export-Import Bank of China (China Eximbank) and the Government of Morocco signed an RMB 50 million government concessional loan (GCL) agreement for this project (captured in Project ID#1846). However, it is unclear if the Chinese Government ever committed the remaining RMB 80 million (captured in Project ID#56599). The purpose of the project was to build three small irrigation dams: one in the city of Ifrane; one in the city of Chefchaouen; and one in the city Al-Hoceima. It is unclear if this project was ever implemented.
