Project narrative

In July 2018, China announced it would provide Mauritius with an RMB 150 million grant. The grant is intended to be used for socio-economic development according to the government of Mauritius website, more specifically the Special Housing Project according to the Prime Minster's Office. It was announced during the President of the People’s Republic of China Mr Xi Jinping's Friendship Visit to Mauritius on July 27 and 28, 2018. China also officially invited Mauritius to attend the 2018 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and signed a free-trade agreement between the two countries according to the media sources. Implementation of the project is currently unknown.
