Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On May 10, 2010, the Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Tunisia and the Director of the Public Service Department of the Tunisian Chamber of Advisors signed a handover certificate for the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China's donation of office equipment to the Tunisian Chamber of Advisors. The equipment had been presented to Tunisia in March 2010, during the visit of Wang Zhaoguo, a member of the Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party and the vice chairman of the Standing Committee. Wang's visit also included a donation of office equipment to the Tunisian Chamber of Deputies, as captured by linked Record ID#56692.

Staff comments

For coding purposes, AidData has used the handover certificate as the start and end dates, even though the donation was physically provided earlier. The source does explicitly state that the Standing Committee was the source of donation, but since Wang Zhaoguo presented the office equipment provided by the Standing Committee to the Tunisian Chamber of Deputies in March at the same time he presented the equipment for the Chamber of Advisors, AidData has assumed the Standing Committee was the source of both donations.
