Project narrative

In 2018, China provided funding to Chad's Cellule de Liaison et d'Information des Associations Féminines (the Chadian National Women's Association of Information Liaison Office, CELIAF) to sponsor training courses for women (妇女能力建设培训班). The opening ceremony for the "Women's Capacity Building Training Course" was held on December 18, 2018. Nearly a hundred people including Li Jinjin, Ambassador to Chad, Beya Semda, Minister of Agriculture of Chad, Cork, representative of the Minister of Women, Clarice, Chairman of CELIAF, and representatives of women trainees from all over the country attended the meeting. The courses are intended to provide opportunities for education and skill development to women in Chad. This project is one in a broader trend of Chinese-sponsored training for women in Chad. In the past, China has sponsored training in sewing classes, literacy classes, and embroidery classes, which has benefited more than 700 women in Chad. As of 2018, China has been supporting training within CELIAF for 6 years (since 2013).
