Description
On July 30, 2015, the Chinese government handed over the China-Mauritania Ophthalmology Cooperation Center ("中毛眼科合作中心") to the Mauritanian government. The eye care center was financed by the Chinese government and completed as part of "Operation Bright" ("光明行"). A donation ceremony for the Ophthalmology Center included the handover of 760,000 RMB worth of cataract surgical equipment and medical supplies. Additional financing for the construction of the center is unknown. The establishment of the center was aided by the 31st Medical Team (see project #35584), who participated in the 216 cataract surgeries performed in Mauritania under "Operation Bright." The 32nd Medical Team (captured in #56939) also performed cataract surgeries here in July 2016.
