Project narrative

On August 6, 2018, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Cape Verde provided 2,200,000 escudos for the second phase of the rehabilitation of the Eduardo Gomes Miranda Educational Complex (in Portuguese: "Complexo Educativo Eduardo Gomes Miranda"). This school is a secondary school in Cova Figueira, Fogo Island, Cape Verde, and was built with funding from the Chinese Embassy in 2011 (recorded in the linked Record ID#72774). The City Council of Santa Catarina is responsible for the implementation of this project. For this second phase of the project, the spaces were restructured, and a new teachers' room, a meeting room and another classroom were created. Four offices, a school canteen with kitchen, space for sale, a cafeteria and a bathroom were also added. On January 18, 2019, the rehabilitation of the educational complex was inaugurated in a ceremony chaired by the Mayor of Santa Catarina, Alberto Nune. The President of the Cape Verdean Foundation of the Social and School Action Institute (Ficase) attended on behalf of the Ministry of Education. This project is linked to phase one of the rehabilitation project of the educational center (recorded in the linked Record ID#68877) and the original Chinese funding for the creation of the complex (recorded in the linked Record ID#72774).
