Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

According to email correspondence between AidData’s Executive Director and the Director General of the Office of the Secretary of State for Planning and Regional Integration in Guinea-Bissau, the Chinese Government provided a grant worth $4,567,080 to the Government of Guinea-Bissau for the National School of Health Construction Project. China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) was the funding source. This project involved the construction of the National School of Health — in an area of 6,000 square meters — on the outskirts of the city of Bissau. It included a medical teaching building, nursing teaching building, administrative office building, sports ground and teacher and student dormitories. The facility was designed to accommodate 500 students. On December 26, 2013, there was a ceremony for the completion of the construction of the National School of Health. The school is now used by 90 faculty members and is currently the largest vocational college in West Africa. It is training future health professionals in Guinea-Bissau.
