Description

On December 30, 2004, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing sent a letter to the Chairman of the African Union Commission (AU) announcing the Chinese government's intent to provide the AU with USD 400,000 in cash assistance for the AU's mediation efforts in Sudan (李肇星外长就苏丹达尔富尔问题致信非洲联盟委员会). The assistance is specifically used for the AU ’s operations in the Darfur region of Sudan. It is unknown if the cash was ever delivered.
