Project narrative

In 2016, China’s Ministry of Commerce provided a grant to the Government of Comoros for the Mwali Island Digital Television Coverage Project. The monetary value of this grant commitment is unknown. The purpose of this project was to expand digital terrestrial television coverage on the island of Mwali (Mohéli). China Radio and Television International Economic and Technical Cooperation Corporation (CRTV) was the contractor responsible for implementation. The project was officially launched in May 2016. However, it actually began implementation on September 17, 2016. The project was completed and handed over to the local authorities on December 5, 2016.

1. This project is also known as Phase 2 of the Digital Television Coverage Project. Phase 1 sought to expand digital terrestrial television coverage in the Bambao region on the island of Ngazidja (Grande Comore). Phase 3 will seek to expand digital terrestrial television coverage on the island of Anjouan. Phase 4 will seek to expand digital terrestrial television coverage to the entire island of Ngazidja (Grande Comore). 2. The Chinese project title is 科莫埃利岛数字电视项目 or 科摩罗莫埃利岛数字电视覆盖项目 or 科摩罗广电落地及数字电视试点项目 or 莫埃利岛数字电视项目. The French project title is La diffusion en numérique terrestre de la station nationale.
