On August 27, 2007, the National Chinese Education Office committed to send Chinese language teachers to Mauritania. The teachers will contribute to teaching Chinese at the University of Nouakchott, where 20-30 students each year hold a Chinese major. According to the 2011 Embassy article, the University of Nouakchott had received four teachers to teach Chinese from China. On February 18, 2019, a farewell ceremony was held for three Chinese language teachers at the University of Nouakchott.
