Description
On March 7th, 2017, Sun Shuzhong, Chinese Ambassador to Morocco, held a reception for three new medical teams that were sent to Morocco. As of March 8th, 2017, around 80 Chinese volunteers work in eight hospitals across Morocco, including in Agadir, Benguerire, Chefchaouen, Errachidia, Meknes, Mohammedia, Settat, and Taza. This project has been completed. The Chinese medical team had 8 medical teams and a total of 78 members, including 56 medical and health professionals. Most of them work in remote mountainous areas and desert areas where conditions are difficult. According to statistics, the doctors of the medical team in Taza have to receive more than 10,000 patients annually and complete more than 3,000 surgeries on average. This project is part of a series of ongoing medical missions to Morocco that China has undertaken since 1975. These missions are part of the implementation of the China-Africa Public Health Cooperation Plan. As of March, 2019, a reported total of 1,784 Chinese medical personnel have been sent to aid people across Morocco. A new batch of medical professionals came to Morocco in October 2018 to replace this one (see project ID #56345). These missions also include the following projects: Chinese Medical Mission to Morocco in 2005 (project #56311) Chinese Medical Mission to Morocco in 2010 (project #56319) Chinese Medical Mission to Morocco in 2013 (project #56331) Chinese Medical Mission to Morocco in 2015 (project #57182) Chinese Medical Mission to Morocco in 2016 (project #56341) Chinese Medical Mission to Morocco in 2018 (project #56345)
