Description
On December 11, 2017, government of China and government and Republic of Congo signed the letter of exchange to implement the "Access to satellite TV in ten thousand African villages" in Rep of Congo (刚果(布)万村通项目). This project is the Congo part of the overall project "Access to satellite TV in ten thousand African villages" announced by Chinese President Xi Jinping, together with the African participants of the Conference, at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation at the Johannesburg Summit in 2015 (described in #57618). 100 villages in Congo across 12 provinces will be affected. The StarTimes group was charged with implementing the project under the direction of the Chinese and African governments in the countries concerned. On August 31, 2018, the construction was completed, and on March 22, 2019, the handover ceremony was held. Chinese Ambassador to Gangma Ma Fulin, Gang News Media Minister Mengara, Jindeli District Head Stella Sasso, Business Counsellor Yang Peipei and others attended the ceremony.
