Description

On October 5, 2018, the 19th Chinese medical team arrived in Kigali, Rwanda. The 15-person team is based out of Masaka hospital and Kibungo hospital. During their one-year mission, they performed over 500 surgical operations. The team also donated medical equipment and materials to local hospitals. On December 3, 2018 the team provided free health care and information about preventing infectious diseases to employees in the Rwandan Government Administration Office Complex, a project constructed by China's Top International Engineering Corporation. On October 15, 2019, a handover ceremony was held between the 19th and the 20th Chinese medical team. Permanent Secretary of Rwanda's Ministry of Health Jean Pierre Nyemazi presented certificates of honor to members of the 19th medical team at the ceremony.
