Project narrative

In January 2017, the Chinese Government provided a $6 million grant to the Government of Mozambique’s Ministry of Transportation to build a “workshop” (or repair center) for buses in Matola. The workshop covers 20,000 square meters of land and includes offices, warehouses for spare parts, an area for washing buses, and a station for treating waste water. The workshop is reportedly able to repair 2,500 buses per year. The purpose of this project was to improve the quality and safety of public transportation in Mozambique. On January 24, 2017, the new workshop was officially inaugurated.
