Description
On January 29, 2003, the Chinese Government provided a RMB 3,451,360 grant to the Government of Niger to finance 80% of the cost of the Maradi-Tibiri Urban Drinking Water Project. The project involved the construction of a 7 kilometer water supply pipeline from Maradi to Tibiri to serve nearly 20,000 town residents. Tibiri (Doutchi) is a village and rural commune in the Tibiri Department of the Dosso Region of Niger. Maradi is the second largest city in Niger and the administrative centre of Maradi Region and the seat of the Maradi Department and an Urban Commune. China Chongqing International Construction Corporation (CICO) was the contractor responsible for implementation. The project was expected to take 5 months to complete.
