Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On September 25, 2013, the foundation stone laying ceremony was held for a 36 bed maternity room granted by the Chinese embassy at the Salima Regional Hospital in Malawi, according to the Chinese Embassy. It is part of the “Prepare Maternal and Child Plan” for Malawi, run by Malawi's government. The project was funded through a 30 million kwacha grant. An article from The Nation reports that the room was completed and handed over on June 19, 2014. This project was encouraged by the Malawi government Presidential Initiative on Maternal Health and Safe Motherhood.
