On November 2, 2017, the Chinese government held a ceremony for 26 Malawian students who would study infrastructure planning and construction in China. The ceremony was hosted by the Chinese Embassy, with Ambassador Wang and Malawi Minister of Local Government Nankumwa giving speeches. It is unclear when the students actually left for China.
