Project narrative

On January 18, 2007, the Chinese Government and the Government of Madagascar signed an RMB 70 million grant agreement for a School Uniform Project. This project involved the provision of 3,416,149 school uniforms for primary and secondary school students in Madagascar. Jiangsu Sainty Corp., Ltd. (江苏舜天股份有限公司) was the contractor responsible for implementation. These uniforms were delivered in three batches: the first batch arrived in November 2006; the second batch arrived on January 4, 2007; and the third batch arrived on October 6, 2007. China’s Ambassador to Madagascar said that the project would help the Malagasy Government achieve the goals of the Madagascar Action Plan (MAP). On January 4, 2007, the second batch of primary school uniforms handover ceremony was held. The second batch consisted of 487,715 uniforms. The third batch handover ceremony occurred on October 6, 2007.
