Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On December 20, 2017, the Chinese government donated 3,270 metric tons of parboiled rice to 5,290 households that were affected by disasters in 2017 in Ntcheu, Malawi. The rice is worth $3 million USD. In 2017, the people in Malawi suffered from armyworm attacks, floods, and poor rain patterns during the growing season. The food will be disbursed by the Malawian government to ten districts to cushion the suffering of the people in the affected areas. In Ntcheu, about 264.5 metric tonnes of rice will benefit people from five traditional authorities of Ganya and Masasa in Sharpevalley EPA as well as Makwangwala, Phambala and Tsikulamowa in Manjawira EPA’s.
